Changue House, Ayrshire. Now available for film projects
Already a successful holiday home, we are also opening our beautiful 18th Century country house in Ayrshire to film, TV and printed media projects.
As you drive through the delightful conservation village of Barr, the scene is set for a very special location for your film or holiday.
Following the single track road up the valley alongside the river, there is a real sense of peace and solitude. When you reach this beautiful 18th century house, the beautiful woodlands, fine trees, gardens and stunning views are everything you hoped.
Changue House is a fine Scottish Country House, set in its own mature grounds in a tranquil and secluded location on the edge of Changue Forest, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Close to Turnberry Golf Course.
A mile from the picturesque conservation village of Barr, Changue House nestles amidst countryside classified as being an 'area of outstanding beauty'.
Changue House itself dates back to the early 1800s and is steeped in history and local folklore. The history and age of Changue house is unclear although ownership of the original Changue Estate can be traced back as far as the 17th Century when legend has it that the areas most famed resident ‘The Laird o' Changue’ made a pact with devil exchanging his soul for great wealth.
The Laird’s ability to spend money was well known and, having squandered his fortune, the devil came to collect what he was owed. By this time the Laird had changed his mind over his deal and a great battle ensued on the hill opposite the house where to this day the devils footprints can still be seen where no grass will grow.
The house also sits on a known smugglers route, yet we are still to find hidden treasure! For the more romantic, it is rumoured that Robert Burns once courted the Laird of Changues’ daughter!
Although set in a very private location, Changue House is only twenty minutes from the famous Turnberry Golf Courses, Hotel and award winning Spa. Royal Troon, Prestwick and many other links and parkland golf courses are all within an hour away.
Outside the gardens are lovely with mature trees and wonderful views across the valley to Changue Forest with all its woodland walks. For the more energetic there are Mountain biking trails on your doorstep so you can cycle for 19 miles from the house without ever touching a road or perhaps try some fishing on the nearby River Stinchar (licences available locally).
The layout of the property lends itself to meeting the needs of a film project and the associated personnel, whilst at the same time being an ideal house to get both sides of the family together or spend some quality time with friends!
If you require a film location for a countryside/landowner-based project this could be the perfect location!
